Hi, my name is Melvin. I work full-time as an IT Analyst at an Investment Bank, and in my free time I capture moments on film.
These are moments captured of everyday scenes around me.
I am based in Hyderabad, Telangana, and I carry my camera with me wherever I go. If I come across a moment that feels worth preserving, I take the shot.
I fell in love with film photography after attending a workshop on developing and scanning film photographs. When I finally saw one of my own photographs printed, it gave me a satisfaction similar to the first sip of coffee after a long time.
With the limited time I have, this style of photography suits me best, and I continue to pursue it. This archive is an ongoing body of work; a long-term observation of spaces, people, and passing moments that shape everyday life.
Because I shoot on film, I can never predict which moments will reveal themselves well after development. My goal is simply to stay present and capture what I see. Whether the result turns out well, or how the scan appears later, is something I try to let go of and trust the process.
This uncertainty is part of what drives me. It reminds me to trust the process and focus on the moment.
Along with film photography, I am deeply in love with writing stories, and reflective pieces, that I share on my site↗.
If you are interested to know of the captures and some reasoning of the clicks, subscribe to my newsletter as I share updates via mail.
